What came first, the chick or the egg?
Or
Who is the prize?
This question and the self-affirming exclamations of "I'm the prize" have set social media ablaze in the last few years and have subsequently also left social media discourse and, more sadly, our relationship dynamics in shambles.
The Prize is intended to serve as a positive self-esteem and affirming concept, reminding us not to shrink ourselves or sacrifice ourselves in relationships and that we are, in fact, the prize. But just like all things social media touches, it has mutated into a tainted way we express self-love because it comes at the other person's expense.
The Prize has become a zero-sum game, and we've lost sight of the actual "prize," which is the wonderful relationship, the beautiful family, and the hopeful, fruitful future.
The Prize It's not about the US as individuals, but the US as a union - partnership, a family.
